For the second time in a row, the analytical house Bismode Slovenija awarded the company Kovis livarna a platinum certificate of credit excellence 2020, which represents  their highest possible recognition of business excellence at  European level.

In the turbulent year 2020, only 1.3% of all 177,562 registered companies in Slovenia achieved a platinum credit rating, including Kovis livarna. A credit rating of excellence represents an above-average credit rating of economic operators.

The management of the Kovis livarna company is aware that all employees are jointly responsible for these excellent business results and  they especially thank their employees in this regard and is looking forward to a successful business in the future.

In the company Kovis we continuously monitor developments related to the Coronavirus COVID-19 and follow the instructions of state institutions.

The Platinum credit rating excellence is issued exclusively to companies that continue to achieve the AAA Gold Excellence for three consecutive years. Companies that achieve Platinum Creditworthiness Rating are perceived as the most reliable, credible and low-risk business entity to cooperate with all business partners. The certificate is Europe’s renowned and recognizable. Platinum Rating of Excellence 2019 represents 1.5% of the Slovenian market.

Companies that preserve good business practices achieve outstanding business results and take care of the satisfaction of everyone involved in the work process. The goal of this recognition of achievements is not only the promotion of well-functioning businesses and good business practices, but also the achievement of financial integrity.

Exceptional payment discipline is important for the health of every company, and it is therefore crucial to maintain a tradition in attaining AAA standards and consequently maintain a good financial condition.

The World Foundry Organization and the Slovenian Foundrymen Society were the organizers of the WFO-Technical Forum and the 59th IFC Portorož 2019 with the accompanying foundry exhibition held from 18 to 20 September 2019 in Portorož, under the motto: ”Castings as complex components’.’

Our company also took part in the conference, as we were one of two honorable companies that opened the doors of our foundry for visitors of the conference. Thus, on September 18, 2019, we hosted the participants of the foundry conference, to whom we introduced our company and took them on a tour around the foundry.

An ageing workforce and sick leave may face a major challenge for each employer and it is thus important to know their characteristics and on the basis of these findings, to develop appropriate management modes of employees in the company.
Following the guidelines of the European Union in the field of active and healthy ageing and solving the problem of the low labour market participation of older employees, as well as high absenteeism of employees, Kovis decided to participate in the POLET project.
The POLET project – “Developing a comprehensive business model for employers for active and healthy ageing of employees”, which takes place in the Eastern Slovenia cohesion region, will take place between April 2019 and May 2022. The POLET project is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the European Social Fund.
The main objective of the project is to reduce absenteeism from work by 10% in relation to the starting situation.
On the basis of an analysis of the situation in our company, an individualized programme and a plan for the implementation of activities in the field of active and healthy aging, and reducing absenteeism from work have been developed. The range of innovative measures is helpful to the company and serves as an idea when choosing a measure that the company believes can help improve the organizational climate, interpersonal relationships, and long-term preventive care for the effectiveness at work.
Within the POLET project, the employees will be introduced to various topics in the field of health, training, psychosocial aspects of health and work, work organization, and many other topics.

For the tenth time in a row KOVIS successfully introduced itself at InnoTrans 2018 in Berlin, which was held from 18 to 21 September.

InnoTrans is the leading international trade fair for transport technology and takes places every two years in Berlin. More than 3.000 exhibitors from more than 60 countries presented themselves in all 41 halls hosted by InnoTrans at the Berlin Exhibition Center.

Today, our products are present on 32 markets worldwide, but our ambitions are much bigger. In the following years, we want to expand sales in markets outside the European Union. Therefore, we are also devoting funds for presentation at the world’s largest rail fair, which requires special attention and long-lasting preparations.

Among others, it was also possible to see our products on many rail vehicles in the outdoor exhibition space. A number of new railway vehicles were introduced, which are equipped with our products.
At this year’s fair we have presented two global innovations in the market of railway goods vehicles. This is the final version of the FUTURA disc and the K25 bearing housing, which represents a perfect solution for the owners and service providers of freight wagons.
At the same time, Kovis managed to bring together several Slovenian companies in one area. The exhibition was organized by the Slovenian company BuhExpo.si, the catering service Jezeršek has taken care about the food, for the entertainment the musicians Boštjan Gombač, Janez Dovč and DJ Rogovilc were invited, as well as the cartoonist Boris Oblak for the cultural animation.

On May 31st Kovis Foundry has signed the State Support Agreement with the Minister of Economy Zdravko Počivalškek.  For the project worth 24.7 million Euros “Modernization of Kovis foundry for the development of new products”, the minister has promised us two million Euros in regional aid.

The project is being implemented with the aim of expanding the production capacity. The investment covers tangible assets through an expansion of the existing hall, a new transformer station, an investment for sand preparation, an automatic molding line, a new  furnace place, automation of the melting department and cleaning system as well as optimization of logistics processes within the company.

With the realization of the project, the Kovis Foundry will hire another 85 people in various areas of the company by 2020. The investment will have a very large impact on new jobs in the region, in a  short time after the start of the project.

On 14 December 2017, representatives of Kovis Livarna attended the final conference of the Futura project in Martin, Slovakia. The Kovis Group, together with three foreign partners, has designed a project whose main objective is to improve the quality of life and safety of more than 55 million EU citizens living or working near the railway line. The high potential of the Futura project has also been recognized by the European Commission, as the project has received EU funding under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.

On the conference the conclusions and results of the proposed action were presented.The Futura project will provide the latest development steps for the introduction of DRFB (splitted Rail Freight Brake Disc) for rail freight traffic. It is a revolutionary solution that significantly influences the three key elements of rail freight transport: 1) safety, 2) health and  environment, and 3) cost-effectiveness with significant social, economic and technical effects.

 Today there are two competing solutions: brake block K and a non-splitted brake disc. Although a non-splitted brake disc is a better solution because it provides greater safety, less noise and less vibration, it is used in practice in less than 10% of cases because it is not competitive. This problem will be eliminated by the Futura project.

Concrete goals of the Futura project are: reduction of the noise level, reduction of the braking distance, reduction of the vibrations and reduction of the mass of the brake disk. As a result, the actions will help to reduce the number of accidents, reduce damage to the load, increase the life of the wheels by 50% and reduce the cost of the life cycle of a brake disc. The DRFB brake disc will contribute significantly to the development of rail freight transport, which is more environmentally friendly than road and air transport. The available market size for innovations is around 12 billion Euros per year. The most important target markets are the EU, USA, Canada, Russia, China, India and Brazil.

In November Kovis Livarna visited Agritechnica 2017, which is the largest agricultural technology fair. In Hanover, 2.900 exhibitors from 53 countries presented their products and services. The fair attracted more than 450.000 visitors in six days, making it one of the world’s leading trade fairs.

At the fair current trends and innovations in the field of agriculture, mechanization and accompanying activities were presented. The purpose of our visit was to get in contact with potential customers and to learn about the innovations in the field of mechanization. Many of our customers from Slovenia and abroad also presented their products at this fair. We are pleased to see that the castings of our company are part of their products and represented on the world market for agricultural machinery.

We were selected on the public tender for co-financing the costs of obtaining certificates according to international standards in 2017.

With this project, we are upgrading the updated standards according to the new edition of ISO 9001: 2015 and SO 14001: 2015, which replace the 2008 edition. The purpose of the project is to raise the quality of business and products and increase competitiveness while spreading to foreign markets.
