For the third time in a row, Kovis d.o.o. was given the highest, golden credit rating of the company Bisnode.
The classification of the credit rating means an above-average credit rating of an economic entity. It is based on the annual financial statements of the company for the last financial year and forecasts the operating safety for the next twelve months. This award was received by 1.6 percent of Slovenian companies in the year 2017.
This golden award shows that we are a reliable and trustworthy business partner. It is a great recognition and an incentive to continue to pursue our goals.
As part of the FUTURA project, Kovis is actively presented at international trade fairs. At the beginning of this year, we presented Kovis as exhibitors at the Expo Rail 2017 fair in Mexico. This exhibition offered an excellent opportunity to present the progress in the optimization of brake discs for the rail freight transport.
At the international fair Czech Raildays in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, which is the nineteenth already, Kovis presented the results of the FUTURA project regarding the following situation: 20.7% lower weight, 11% shorter braking distance and consequently increased safety, 10% less vibration, 10% higher efficiency, 5% longer lifecycle, 55% reduction in maintenance costs, 4dBA lower noise in laboratory tests and 10dBA lower test noise in the real environment compared to K-brakes.
As a visitor, Kovis representatives also participated in two international trade fairs this year, the Middle East Rail – International Conference and Trade Exhibition in Dubai and Transport logistics in Munich.
Activities in the field of exhibiting and visiting fairs, where the main thread is the railway industry, will be continued intensively in the second half of this year. In September we are going to visit the Trako Fair in Poland, in October the Fair Elmia Nordic Rail in Sweden and in November the Rail + Metro China Fair in China. Two other important international fairs are also waiting for us: the APTA trade fair in America in October and AusRail in Australia at the end of November. There we are going to present ourselves as exhibitors.

KOVIS introduced itself along with the agent for the South American market, at the fair and International Congress Exporail 2017, which took place from February 15th to 16th, 2017 in Mexico. Plenty of attention and interest was raised among visitors regarding our new brake disc for rail freight traffic.
From February 10th until February 11th Slovenia high schools had information days. At school Center Krško- Sevnica we presented the new program: hardware technician, which was created by the initiative of the Posavje economy and school, and will be implemented in the school year 2017/18 in agreement with the Ministry of education as well as carried out by this school as the first school in Slovenia. The program was supported by the surrounding economy and 18 companies that will offer scholarships and practical training as well as employment.
The company KOVIS has supported the program and also introduced itself to prospective students and parents.
PROJECT FUTURA
The main objective of the proposed action is to improve the quality and safety of the lives of more than 55 million EU citizens living or working in the vicinity of train tracks.
The company Kovis, along with three partners, Omnia and Vud from Slovakia and ZX-Benet from the Czech Republic, engaged in the project named FUTURA, which main objective is to improve the quality and safety of the lives of more than 55 million EU citizens living or working in the vicinity of the train track. The proposed project will provide the latest developmental steps in the introduction of the divided brake discs (Divided Rail Freight Brake Disc – disc DRFB) for rail freight transport. It is a revolutionary solution, which affects the 3 key elements of the rail freight transport:
1) safety and security,
2) health and the environment, and
3) cost-effectiveness with strong horizontal and vertical “spill-over” effects and crucial social, economic and technical impacts.
The concrete goals of the project FUTURA are: to lower the noise level, shorten the braking distance, reduce vibrations and lower the mass of the brake disk. Consequently, the actions will help reduce the number of accidents, damages to cargo, extended the life cycle of wheels by 50% and reduce the life-cycle cost of the disk. All of these advantages were also recognized by the European Commission. For the development project FUTURA they acquired the assets of the research and innovation program of the European Union, OBZORJE 2020.
The Brake disc DRFB will significantly contribute to the increase of quantity of freight transported by rail, which is an environmentally friendly way in comparison to alternative modes (on road and air). The total available market size for innovation is about 12 billion Euros per year. Key target markets are the EU, the United States, Canada, the Russian Federation, China, India and Brazil.
