On Saturday, September 6, 2025, employees from the companies Kovis, Kovis Foundry, and Kovis Transport came together for the 3rd Kovis Sports Games, held at the Lipa Sports Park in Štore. The event was dedicated to promoting athletic activity, fostering social interaction and strengthening team spirit. Once again, we demonstrated our ability to unite energy, enthusiasm, and collaboration.
The opening ceremony was marked by welcome addresses from Ms. Jerica Vranc, Director of Kovis Foundry, and Mr. Alen Šinko, Director of Kovis, who officially announced the start of the sporting gathering.
Participants took part in a wide range of disciplines, including football, tennis, and volleyball. Many also chose to embark on a hike to Resevno, enjoy Nordic walking or cycle towards Žalec.
In addition to the competitive events, entertainment was provided through a wheel of fortune, a “fastest kick” challenge, and a photo booth that captured lasting memories of the day.
The competitive spirit did not waver even during the tug-of-war, where four teams faced each other in intense contests.”
The Sports Games once again underscored the importance of strengthening connections among colleagues across all three companies. Beyond the athletic achievements and celebratory moments, the event left us wonderful memories of a gathering that strengthens bonds and builds cooperation beyond the workplace.

From September 18th to 20th, 2024, the 64th International Foundry Conference (IFC) took place in Portorož, organized by the Slovenian Foundrymen Society. This important professional event brought together foundry experts, scientists, and suppliers from the foundry industry across numerous European countries, with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences, and the latest advancements in the field.
The conference featured distinguished experts from both domestic and international universities, research institutes, and representatives of foundry companies, giving the event a truly international significance and importance.
Kovis Livarna d.o.o. actively participated in the conference with a presentation titled “Green Transformation and Sustainability Measures in Cast Iron Foundries,” prepared by A. Tekavčič, J. Poklič and J. Vranc. The presentation addressed key sustainability challenges and solutions that are crucial for the future of the foundry industry in light of environmental requirements and the green transition.
We also contributed to a presentation titled “ A new shape of tele miniriser for an increased thermal efficiency,” where our expert S. Al Jasim was a co-author. This research emphasized innovative approaches to improving the energy efficiency of foundry processes, which is a vital step towards reducing energy losses and increasing productivity.
Our participation in the International Foundry Conference reaffirms our commitment to innovation, sustainable solutions, and progress in the foundry industry.
We are glad that after a long break we were able to present ourselves again at CastForge 2024 in Stuttgart, which took place from June 4 to 6.2024
CastForge is the largest trade fair focusing on castings, forgings and their machining. Every two years, the doors of the fair open, where international manufacturers of castings and forgings and highly specialized processors meet with industrial buyers of various industries, such as mechanical engineering, pumps, hydraulics, drive industry, and show their expertise.
This year, more than 490 exhibitors presented themselves in 2 exhibition halls of the Messe Stuttgart exhibition venue, and among them was our company Kovis livarna d.o.o.
The fair event was an exceptional opportunity for our company to successfully present our activities, innovations and commitments. We are very proud to announce that we have successfully presented ourselves at the fair under the motto “Green Casting”, which emphasizes our commitment to sustainable development and environmental awareness.
We presented our valued customers and future business partners with a state-of-the-art foundry equipped with the latest technology and innovative solutions. Visitors were able to learn about our updated production process, which is designed to reduce the environmental footprint and improve efficiency. In the company, we are aware of the importance of social responsibility, which is why our greatest concern is the implementation of high environmental standards. Our commitment to sustainability is a key component of our business model, which aims to contribute to a greener and more sustainable future.
We built a success story at the fair with Slovenian companies. The exhibition space was set up by the Slovenian company Proevent d.o.o. from Ljubljana, and the catering was taken care of by the guys from the company GMT Event d.o.o. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their contribution.

Project Description:
Within the framework of the development project, the consortium partners, companies Kovis d.o.o. and Kovis Foundry d.o.o., will develop a wheel-mounted brake disc and a metal pallet for adapted brake disc logistics. The innovation is intended for use in rail vehicles reaching speeds of over 200 km/h.
Project Objectives:
Kovis: The main objective of the project is the development of an innovative technical solution at a global level – a wheel brake disc (KZD) for high-speed train traffic (speeds above 200 km/h). This disc will also include a completely newly developed dynamically loaded screw, which will serve as part of the system for attaching the brake disc to the train wheel.
Kovis Foundry: The project focuses on the development and production of special metal pallets that serve the adapted logistics and storage of wheel brake discs (KZD) for rail traffic.
The investment is funded by the EU and is part of the measures of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (NOO), which forms the basis for the use of funds from the NextGenerationEU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism.

In October 2023 Kovis livarna d.o.o. has successfully completed the investment in the construction of a solar power plant with an output of 708,00 KW. This will enable us to cover around 3,8 % of our own electricity needs.
1.874 solar panels were installed on the production roof of the foundry headquarters by the contractor GEN-I Sonce.
Kovis Livarna’ decision to build a solar power plant reflects our commitment to environmental responsibility and long-term sustainability. By using solar power, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions, expressed in CO2 equivalents, by 414,594 t/per year and contribute to the expansion of renewable energy sources.
The solar power plant construction project was partially funded by the European Cohesion Fund.
On Saturday, September 9th, 2023, the first Kovis sports games and a meeting of the companies Kovis, Kovis foundry and Kovis transport took place in the Lipa Sports Park in Štore.
In the Kovis companies, we not only promote business excellence, but also being active and a healthy lifestyle. The idea of Kovis sports games was born from this philosophy. It is a day that combines a sports competition, entertainment and an opportunity for connecting between colleagues and companies.
As part of health promotion, all participants in the sports games were able to measure their blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
Before starting the competition, all the meeting participants were welcomed by the the director of the Kovis foundry, Jerica Vranc.
The morning warm-up provided a great start to the day. Although the purpose of the event was primarily socializing and recreation, a competitive part was also held as part of the meeting; competitors competed in football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. In the meantime, hikers went to the Old Castle of Celje, where they enjoyed historical glimpses and a wonderful view.
At the end of the competition, there was also an extremely tense tug-of-war, whichwas won by the team from Kovis.
After a delicious lunch, a lucky draw was organized for the participants of the games, which brought laughter, joy and rich prizes contributed by our business partners.
We ended the day with the awarding of trophies for the best and with a pleasant gathering with colleagues.
The first Kovis sports games successfully opened the door to the tradition of sports bonding and fun. We look forward to future events where we will continue to build the connection between sport and socializing together and create unforgettable moments.

Dear Sirs and Madams,
The Strategic Development and Innovation Partnership Materials as End Products (SRIP MATPRO) has published a bilingual advertising brochure in honour of World Environment Day with the title SRIP MATPRO on the way to sustainability. The services of SRIP MATPRO are presented on up to 100 pages in words and pictures, in particular the companies that participate as partners and thus represent the most penetrating, development-oriented and innovative part of the Slovenian economy. In addition to the presentation of the most important activities and products, the brochure also describes business initiatives and sustainability.
The brochure is enriched with contributions by experts from knowledge institutes involved in SRIP MATPRO, who talk about the most promising new materials and show how these materials will develop in the future.
The publication, of which there are 1,000 copies, includes 22 companies and seven knowledge and network institutions, including our company Kovis livarna d.o.o., which is presented on page 68.
